    National Right to Life Condemns Four Years of Pro-Abortion Policies Under the Biden Administration

    WASHINGTON — Today, the Biden administration released a list of what it considers successes of the last four years including the unprecedented push to promote unlimited abortion. 

    The following is a statement from Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life:

    It is ironic that the list of “accomplishments,” as seen by the Biden administration, began with a quote from the Declaration of Independence. When it comes to abortion, this administration operated on the premise that we are “born” equal, rather than “created equal” as our Founding Fathers unequivocally stated.

    For four years, President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris supported unlimited abortion, promoted abortion from the Oval Office, and engaged in fearmongering rooted in lies manufactured by Big Abortion in a post-Dobbs propaganda campaign.

    The Biden-Harris administration prioritized a radical abortion agenda: unlimited abortions for any reason, even as a method of family planning and even late in pregnancy—right up until birth—and using American tax dollars to pay for it. The Biden administration employed a whole-of-government approach to promoting abortion, using every lever of power at its disposal to make abortions more available and more common, with no thought of the innocent unborn children who will die. 

    President Biden and Vice President Harris were nearly single-minded when it came to their priorities in office: promoting their support of the abortion industry and the killing of vulnerable preborn babies.

    National Right to Life Mourns the Passing of the Honorable Geline B. Williams, Former Chairman of the Board

    Mrs. Williams was Instrumental in the Founding of National Right to Life and the Pro-Life Movement

    WASHINGTON — The Honorable Geline B. Williams, former mayor of Richmond, Virginia, and the former chairman of the National Right to Life Board of Directors, passed away on Sunday, January 12, at the age of 100. 

    “National Right to Life mourns the loss of a beloved pro-life leader,” stated Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “The impact Geline had on the founding of the pro-life movement and the work to protect women and their unborn babies cannot be overstated.” 

    Early on, Geline and her husband Alex, who passed away in 1996, were part of a pro-life steering committee that successfully defeated attempts to weaken Virginia’s abortion law in 1966. Later, Geline and Alex worked to protect preborn babies by founding National Right to Life’s oldest affiliate, Virginia Society for Human Life (VSHL) in 1967. They brought together doctors, lawyers, homemakers, clergy, public officials, and others to help lead VSHL’s successful efforts.

    Fr. Jim McHugh, head of the Family Life Bureau of the U.S. Catholic Conference, was actively involved in protecting innocent human lives and saw the need for an ecumenical, national pro-life organization to coordinate the flow of information strategy between emerging state-based pro-life organizations. VSHL’s success in 1966 led him to approach their board in the spring of 1968 with a request that they help bring the National Right to Life Committee into being.

    Geline’s early devotion to National Right to Life’s success helped guide the organization before Roe v. Wade and immediately after. For over three decades, Geline served as chairman of the board for National Right to Life. 

    “National Right to Life will be forever indebted to Geline,” said Tobias. “Her guidance in the early years of the pro-life movement and her leadership on the NRLC Board of Directors set the foundation for the movement today.”

    National Right to Life Congratulates House Speaker Mike Johnson and House Republican Leaders

    WASHINGTON — The following is a statement by Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life:

    National Right to Life congratulates Rep. Mike Johnson (R-La.) on his election as Speaker of the House of Representatives. Speaker Johnson’s time in Congress and his leadership as House Speaker have shown his ongoing commitment to the right to life. Speaker Johnson has made clear that protecting women and their unborn children will be a priority in the 119th Congress.

    National Right to Life also congratulates Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) on his election for Majority Leader, Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) for Majority Whip, Rep. Lisa McClain (R-Mich.) for Republican Conference chairwoman, Rep. Kevin Hern (R-Okla.) for Republican Party Committee chairman and Richard Hudson (R-N.C.) for National Republican Congressional Committee chairman. This team has played a vital role in advancing legislation on the right to life and protecting women and their unborn children. We look forward to working with them in the upcoming Congress.
