National Right to Life Commemorates the Third Anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court Decision in Dobbs
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Three years ago, the U.S. Supreme Court handed down the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision overturning Roe v. Wade. In the decision, the Court wrote:
The Constitution does not confer a right to abortion; Roe and Casey are overruled; and the authority to regulate abortion is returned to the people and their elected representatives.
“Since Dobbs, more than a dozen states have enacted laws protecting unborn children at various stages of development,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “Pro-life legislators in these states are providing leadership and creating models for how a compassionate, pro-woman, pro-child society can flourish.”
The legacy of the Roe v. Wade decision is the loss of nearly 65 million unborn children and the immeasurable harm it has done to women. While states work to protect unborn children, there is still much work to be done.
“Our work isn’t finished—protecting the unborn and empowering families continues in legislatures across America,” Tobias continued, “We believe that we can build a future in which every child is welcomed, every mother is supported, and every life is protected.”
Founded in 1968, the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC), the federation of affiliates in each of the 50 states and more than 3,000 local chapters, is the nation’s oldest and largest grassroots pro-life organization. Recognized as the flagship of the pro-life movement, National Right to Life works through legislation and education to protect innocent human life from abortion, infanticide, assisted suicide, and euthanasia.
