WASHINGTON— In recognition of his deep concern for the lives of vulnerable unborn babies and their mothers, and his exemplary pro-life voting record, U.S. Senator Roger Wicker received the endorsement of National Right to Life, the nation’s oldest and largest pro-life organization, as he seeks re-election in Mississippi.

Throughout his distinguished career in public service, Senator Wicker has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to protecting unborn babies and their mothers,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “Mississippians should vote to re-elect Senator Wicker so that he may continue to be a tireless champion for babies, moms, and families in the U.S. Senate.”

While serving in the U.S. House of Representatives (1995-2007) and the U.S. Senate (2007-present), Roger Wicker maintained a 100% voting scorecard with National Right to Life. Notably, Wicker voted for the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act, the Unborn Victims of Violence Act, the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, pro-life appropriations riders like the Hyde Amendment, and legislation to redirect federal funds from abortion providers to community health centers.

Along with consistent majorities of Americans, Wicker opposes using tax dollars to pay for abortions. Wicker was the lead sponsor and voted for the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, a bill which would limit taxpayer funding for abortions on a government-wide basis with exceptions when the life of the mother is at risk or in cases of rape, incest, or medical emergency.

Wicker was the co-author of the Dickey-Wicker Amendment, first adopted in 1996, that prohibits federal funds from being used to support “research in which a human embryo or embryos are destroyed, discarded, or knowingly subjected to risk of injury or death greater than that allowed for research on fetuses in utero.” In September 2020, Wicker led a group of nearly 100 pro-life legislators in urging the Trump Administration to end taxpayer funding for human embryo-destructive research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

Wicker voted against the so-called Women’s Health Protection Act, an extreme pro-abortion bill pushed by the Biden Administration and pro-abortion Democrats that would enshrine unlimited abortion in federal law and eliminate virtually all existing protections for unborn children and their mothers, including state laws like those requiring that parents are informed before an abortion can be performed on their minor daughter.
