WASHINGTON — On the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, Senate leaders highlighted a broad range of pro-life legislation through a series of unanimous consent requests focused on protecting unborn children, supporting mothers and families, and defending conscience rights.

The measures address protections for unborn children, support for pregnant women and families, conscience rights, and safeguards against abortion coercion.

“On the anniversary of Dobbs, Senate leaders demonstrated that protecting human life remains an important national priority,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “These legislative proposals recognize both the humanity of unborn children and the need to support mothers, families, and vulnerable individuals facing pressure or discrimination.”

Among the measures highlighted are legislation to protect unborn children diagnosed with Down syndrome, preserve conscience protections for health care providers, prevent taxpayer funding of abortion providers through Title X, support pregnant and parenting students, strengthen assistance for mothers and families, prohibit forced abortion, and expand protections for women and unborn children in both domestic and international policy.

Tobias said. “These proposals represent important steps toward protecting unborn children while providing meaningful support for women and families.”

National Right to Life particularly commended Senate leaders for using the Dobbs anniversary to draw attention to legislation that addresses the many ways public policy can affirm the dignity of every human life.

“Whether protecting a child diagnosed with Down syndrome, defending the conscience rights of health care professionals, helping pregnant students continue their education, supporting mothers in need, or preventing coercive abortions, these measures reflect the principle that every human life has inherent value and deserves protection,” Tobias said.
