National Right to Life Congratulates General Counsel James Bopp, Jr. on Lifetime Achievement Award
WASHINGTON — National Right to Life proudly congratulates its longtime General Counsel, James Bopp Jr., on receiving the 2026 Leadership in Law Lifetime Achievement Award from The Indiana Lawyer.
The award, presented annually by The Indiana Lawyer, recognizes attorneys whose careers show exceptional achievement in the legal profession, service to their communities, and commitment to mentoring future generations of lawyers. The Lifetime Achievement Award honors attorneys with at least 25 years of distinguished service whose contributions extend beyond the practice of law.
“Jim Bopp has dedicated his extraordinary legal career to defending constitutional freedoms and protecting the most vulnerable members of the human family,” said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life. “His legal insight, unwavering integrity, and tireless commitment to the pro-life cause have shaped the movement for decades and helped secure historic victories for unborn children and their mothers.”
As General Counsel for National Right to Life, Bopp played a central role in developing and implementing the long-term legal strategy that ultimately led to the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022.
“Jim Bopp’s legal leadership has left an indelible mark not only on the pro-life movement, but on American constitutional law itself,” Tobias said. “National Right to Life is deeply grateful for his decades of counsel, friendship, and principled advocacy.”
According to The Indiana Lawyer, the award recognizes attorneys “whose exemplary life’s work merits singular recognition.”
In accepting the honor, Bopp said, “I am thrilled and humbled by this honor from the highly respected Indiana Lawyer and from my legal peers. It is a testament to the fine associate lawyers who have joined me in our mission to advance the conservative cause and the wonderful support I have received from my wife, Tina, and my family. I have been incredibly blessed in my life, my law practice, and my community and political endeavors.”
